The GOALS of the event include:

• Teach couple dancing to persons of the same gender.
• Celebrate newly learned dance skills through a community dance.
• Host performances by dance companies, troupes, or acts whose choreography includes persons of the same gender dancing together or being partnered.
• Formally recognize the contributions made by individual teachers and others to equality in same-gender couple dancing. This year we are honoring two such persons with our Community Service Award to be given at an Awards Dinner the day at the Dance Festival.
  

The success of LGBT Dance Festival 2006 hinges upon the skills and commitment of its volunteers. The application found below can be used for every kind of volunteer function at the Festival. Stop Hate, Educate! strives to make volunteering an enjoyable experience. We appreciate your effort.

You can VOLUNTEER for one or more of the following:

• Lessons and Workshops- Want to teach a 1-2 hour workshop? Here is your opportunity to show off your skills and promote your own teaching services or business.
• Community Dance - We need DJ's for the 2-hour community dance.
• Event Staffing- The day of the event needs people to staff check-in tables, set-up, teardown, and more.
• Performance- Local dance companies, troupes, and acts are encouraged to showcase their choreography that is supportive of same-gender dancing.
  

The event has the following SCHEDULE (tentative):

• 1:30-4 PM Lessons and Workshops [We have three rooms that can accommodate 20 people each.]
• 4-5:45 PM Community Dance [Held in Fiesta Hall and can accommodate 150 people.]
• 6-7:15 PM Community Service Awards Dinner [Held in Fiesta Hall Courtyard for 60 people.]
  Break/Performance Set-Up
• 7:30-9:30 PM Performance [Held in Fiesta Hall and sits 250 people.]
