Video Projects

Our immediate goals include:

1. Launch the Sexually Stigmatized Communities Project. The SSC Project is comprised of two programs:

  • a. LGBT Training Video/Manual. Currently, there are no training videotapes with manuals on lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, transsexual, or intersex issues as related to the workplace, law enforcement, higher education, K-12 education, corrections, fire services, or others. There is a significant need to create 30-minute training videotapes along with manuals for these targeted audiences. Each tape will cost approximately $60,000 to create. Altogether, there are 13 videotapes envisioned with an overall cost of approximately $800,000 needed for their creation.

Once the videos are created, they will be marketed by Stop Hate, Educate. The next step will be to format the videos onto DVD and write educational programs for CD computer-based instruction using the videos and manuals as the source of information. DVD and CD computer-based instruction are the next wave in instructional methodologies and it is important for Stop Hate, Educate to have materials in those formats. It will cost approximately $300,000 to achieve this goal.

  • b. SSC Awareness Manual. Sexually Stigmatized Communities- Reducing Heterosexism and Homophobia: An Awareness Training Manual (Stewart, C. 1999. Sage Publications) is proven to effectively transmit knowledge and positively change beliefs and feelings toward lesbians and gays. As such, we want to raise the funds necessary to print and distribute, free-of-charge, 100,000 copies of Sexually Stigmatized Communities, to every high school principal, college education department, college LGBT Resource Centers, college library, police academy, military education center, members of the American Association of Affirmative Action, public library, major LGBT organizations and centers, city Human Rights Commissions, Fortune 500 CEO, state governors and senators, and others. Each of these persons are either trainers on multiculturalism or in the position to implement such programs. We want no more excuses why this information is not getting out and effective training being implemented. It will cost approximately $6 million to accomplish this end.

After the SSC Awareness Manuals are distributed, a series of seminars need to be conducted in major population centers to train educators in the use of Sexually Stigmatized Communities. It is hoped that 20 to 30 seminars can be held over a year's time to which a thousand educators can attend. This will cost approximately $200,000.

Future goals include translating Sexually Stigmatized Communities into other languages and distribute it world-wide; along with conducting training sessions for its use

  • 3. Repeat the success of the SSC Project for other socially stigmatized groups including race, gender, religion, and others. Here, materials will be evaluated, funds raised, hundreds of thousands of copies distributed, and training sessions conducted; all free-of-charge to the recipient of the training materials. During this process, a nation-wide membership will be developed that becomes involved in the development of materials, assessment of programs, and distribution of resources.

Stop Hate, EDUCATE! will only succeed through a membership strongly committed to reducing bias hate and one that will no longer tolerate the ineffective training found in the diversity training industry.
